Located on the premises of Sir Sayajirao General Hospital (SSG Hospital) was a bungalow built in the 1880s for the resident doctor of the hospital.
The bungalow exemplified British Colonial architecture and was situated just behind the Memorial of Yuvaraj Fatehsinhrao Gaekwad. In its heyday, it was surrounded by large trees and even had its own small garden. Occupied by the head resident doctor in 1886, who supervised the hospital’s construction.
In April 2017, the bungalow was razed without any clear explanation from the authorities. When questioned, both the VMC and hospital authorities blamed each other.
